Building A Home
We know you need more than a foundation plan. At Pillar AEC, our licensed architects and engineers design your home and its structure as one team. Then your builder handles construction, and we inspect the work along the way, so your home is built for the coast. Whether it’s a custom home, renovation, or addition, you’ll have experts in your corner.
Commercial and Complex Residential Projects
Bigger projects have more moving parts. We get involved early in the design process and work alongside your architect (or ours) and your contractor. Concrete, steel, or wood, we design structures that are practical to build and true to your vision. That means fewer revisions and fewer delays down the road.
Architecture
Where your vision becomes a buildable plan
Architecture
Good design starts with listening. So first, we get to know you: how you live, how you’ll use the space, and how you want it to feel. We listen to what you want so we can help you figure out what you need. And because our architects and engineers work side by side, your design isn’t just beautiful. It’s ready to build.
How Architecture Works
-
Great design starts with collaboration. By getting involved early, we help identify structural challenges, coordinate design decisions, and minimize costly changes before construction begins.
-
Our architects and engineers develop solutions tailored to your project, considering building loads, site conditions, material selection, constructability, and applicable building codes. Final construction documents are reviewed and sealed by licensed professionals.
-
We provide the engineering documentation necessary for permitting and respond to structural plan-review comments, coordinating with the project team and local authorities as needed.
-
Our involvement doesn't stop when the drawings are issued. We remain available to address field conditions, review proposed changes, and perform required or contracted inspections to help keep construction aligned with the approved design.
-
As construction concludes, we address remaining structural items and provide applicable engineering documentation, inspection reports, and compliance certifications within our scope of services.

Engineering
Where your
vision becomes Structurally Sound
Engineering
Your project needs more than a set of drawings. It needs a plan, sound judgment, and a team that knows how today’s design choices affect tomorrow’s build. At Pillar AEC, our experts work side by side with you, your architect (or ours), and your builder to keep your project on track and give you peace of mind.
The earlier we're involved, the smoother it goes. At Pillar AEC, we start by understanding your vision, then design around it. We spot structural challenges early, coordinate design decisions, and help you avoid costly changes before construction begins.
The Engineering Process
-
We learn what you’re building and what matters most to you. Then we team up with a licensed architect (ours or yours) and your builder to map out the next steps.

-
Our work doesn’t stop once the drawings are done. During construction, we inspect the stages that matter most: foundation, framing, strapping, roof, windows, doors, and siding. If something changes on site, we help sort it out.
-
We file your paperwork with the Texas Department of Insurance. Once it’s approved, the state issues your windstorm certificate (WPI-8) — the document required to be insurable.

Construction Consulting
Professional Guidance Beyond the Drawings
Construction Consulting
Construction is where planning, design, and engineering meet real-world conditions. At Pillar AEC, our professional involvement can extend beyond design through field inspections, windstorm compliance services, construction consulting, and project coordination.
We work with property owners, contractors, and design professionals to identify issues, evaluate field conditions, clarify technical requirements, and support informed decisions throughout construction.
Windstorm Inspections
Inspected for Compliance. Built for the Coast.
-
Construction along the Texas coast presents unique challenges, particularly when it comes to windstorm resistance and insurance eligibility. As a Texas Department of Insurance Appointed Qualified Inspector, Pillar AEC provides qualifying inspections and compliance documentation for projects within designated windstorm areas.
Our services can include inspections of foundations, structural framing, connectors, roof decking, exterior openings, roof coverings, and other applicable building components.
We identify compliance concerns, and submit the appropriate documentation to the Texas Department of Insurance. Following successful completion of applicable requirements, TDI may issue the property's WPI-8 windstorm certificate.
Field Inspections
Expert Eyes on the Details That Matter
-
Even well-designed projects encounter unforeseen conditions during construction.
Our engineers provide field observations, structural evaluations, and technical consultation to help owners, contractors, and design professionals assess conditions and determine appropriate next steps.
Whether reviewing an installation concern, evaluating a proposed structural modification, or addressing a construction discrepancy, we provide independent professional judgment grounded in engineering principles and applicable requirements.
Project Management and Owner’s Representation
Protecting Your Interests Through Professional Coordination
-
Successful projects depend on informed decisions, clear communication, and effective coordination between stakeholders.
Pillar AEC’s planned project management and owner's representation services are intended to help owners navigate technical challenges, evaluate project information, coordinate with design and construction teams, and maintain visibility into project progress.
Our role is to provide an experienced professional perspective while helping owners understand their options and make confident decisions.
